HistaGest-DAO™ contains diamine oxidase (DAO). DAO is an enzyme that is required to break down food-derived histamine. This product is designed to support normal histamine metabolism.
Many foods contain histamine, and the body also produces histamine when it is injured or encounters foreign substances.
Some foods are particularly high in histamines, including fermented foods and alcoholic drinks. Lower DAO activity may result in higher levels of histamine being absorbed through the small intestine and accumulating in the blood.
