This test measures levels of DHEAS in the blood. DHEAS is a hormone produced in the adrenal glands. It is converted to testosterone and estrogen. The DHEAS test is used to evaluate adrenal function, and investigate symptoms like tiredness, weakness, & weight loss.
DHEAS is measured to evaluate adrenal function and certain adrenal tumours, signs of imbalanced hormones or excess facial and body hair in girls and women, or early puberty in boys.

DHEAS will be elevated if you take DHEA supplements. Certain medicines, such as insulin, metformin, danazol, calcium channel blockers, corticosteroids, and nicotine may increase DHEAS levels. Supplements that may decrease DHEAS include fish oil and vitamin E.
This test requires a blood draw, which can be done at your local clinic. It will be analysed by an accredited lab, such as Karolinska, Aleris or Unilabs. The first results are usually available within 48h.
What happens next?
The lab sends the results to your personal dashboard, with comments from both a doctor and a nutritionist. If results are abnormal, we recommend seeing a doctor and, if appropriate, booking an appointment with a Nordic Wellth nutrition lifestyle specialist.
