Testing is used to diagnose an infection due to the bacteria and to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment given. H. pylori infection is associated with an increased risk of developing ulcers (peptic ulcer disease), chronic gastritis, and gastric (stomach) cancer.
This test requires a blood draw, which can be done at your local clinic. It will be analysed by an accredited lab, such as Karolinska, Aleris or Unilabs. The first results are usually available within 48h.
